Priorat
Journey of our grapes
Small mountainous wine region of Catalonia 130 kilometers to the south of Barcelona
home to a truly singular terroir:the perfect combination of microclimate, soil, and authentic wine growing tradition since the 12th century
Costerduo is a boutique wine estate and an artisanal project founded by professional oenologists and winegrowers with a lot of passion for the Priorat region and its authentic winemaking tradition
Since 2016 we have taken absolute care of our own singular vineyards and have been fortunate enough to be able to work with one of the best grapes in our appellation.
We passionately handcraft fine wines of limited production in a constant search for the perfect expression of Priorat’s exceptional terroir.
Our philosophy is the ultimate respect and admiration for the unique viticulture tradition of Priorat, its people and nature, as well as, for the beautiful fruit of our land–Priorat’s native varieties of Grenache and carignan.
The estate is formed by three traditional vineyards around Escaladei and Poboleda, the freshest villages of Priorat.
Two of the three vineyards possess almost century-old vines planted on very steep slopes in a truly authentic “coster” manner.
Most of the vines are not trained, and grow on poor slate stone soils called “llicorella”.
This type of soil barely retains any nutrients and water leading to relatively high concentrations of phenolics in grape skin, making together with Mediterranean and Priorat’s specific microclimate our red wines so unique.
High altitude and steep slopes of Priorat’s vineyards make everything almost manual, from pruning to harvesting.
In our vineyards we have always pursued and performed by our hands and hearts only the best and eco-friendly practices trying to preserve Priorat’s treasures created by previous generations and nature.
